The HumanThread Center in Pilsen’s Chicago Arts District presents local Chicago artist Ricardo Gonzalez this August during the next exhibition in its thought-provoking series entitled Changing Visage.
Gozalez’s body of work concentrates on community imagery accumulated from interaction with varied individuals and environments. The exhibit draws heavily on pop art elements and focuses on combining portraiture, iconography, and text to create a dialogue about the transformative thought process of identity, beliefs, nationality and other aspects of contemporary life.
Gonzalez focuses mostly on Latino culture, history, pop art, and contemporary narratives for Latinos in the U.S. and Mexico. Hailing from the south side Chicago-land area, he obtained his B.F.A. from the American Academy of Art. He actively displays artwork in various galleries, museums, universities, and alternative spaces in Chicago and Mexico
HumanThread’s Center for Peace, Arts and Education offers public space and programs to the general community.
