Mexico’s Café Tacvba are headlining at Chicago’s Congress Theater this Thursday August 23.

If you’ve grown up with at least one ear in Latin Rock, you have had, at some point and time, a Tacvba phase or even a moment. Enrique, Emanuel, Juan & Rubén have been producing material for twenty years now, and can easily be dubbed one of the quintessential parts of anyone’s alternative latin music educación. What’s next? After focusing on some solo projects recently, the group plans to release their seventh album before the end of 2012, produced by Gustavo Santaolalla.

Opening for Tacvba is Malafacha, Pilsen-born Ska band with Reggae and Latin rhythms, and Eduardo Calvillo aka Remecla-featured DJ Resistol 5000. The night also features DJ sets by Rude Gentlemen & Dj Enrique Tobias.
