Promoter Antonio Cordova (Complot Roquero) is back in the scene after a 6-year absence, kicking off his Rockbox Wednesdays weekly series with live performances by indie electro rockers Robot Junkies, Saber, and DJs Master Control and Eddie Riot spinning before and after. You might not always go out on Wednesdays, but go out and support!
Originally, lead singer Frank Delamora (formerly of popular band Echonine) and DJ Eddie Riot formed Saber as side project to explore their love of synth and modern electronica. Just last year, the duo decided to form a full band, adding drummer Sebastion Vasquez (originally from Mexico City), and guitarist Miguel Lopez (Frank’s cousin). After meeting Charly Garcia (DJ and visual artist), founder of Chicago’s FMEL Festival (Festival Musica Electronica), Frank invited Charly to join Saber as its fifth member. The result is a dance-oriented, Depeche Mode, U2 and Justice-influenced group with powerful, lively visual projections.
