Mexican Laura Anderson Barbata is showing her new exhibit at the gallery of the center for books and paper arts in Columbia College Chicago. Laura’s work focuses on cultural exploration and group participation, she works within a wide variety of cultures that creates art that reaches out to people of different ethnicity and in different ways. Among her exhibits, Laura’s work has been shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, among many other locations. Among Tender Roots displays Barbata’s collaborations with communities through books, handmade paper, printworks, sculpture, video, installation, and photographs.
The artist’s lecture will be given on March 17th at 7pm.
