Event Description

Treating weighty issues with a light touch, writer and director Daniel Sánchez Arévalo’s latest film, Gordos (”Fat People”), briskly interweaves five plot lines involving the participants in an obesity therapy group.

Standouts in the excellent ensemble include Antonio De La Torre as a gay diet pitchman who discovers he may be a “latent heterosexual,” and Leticia Herrero as a lusty churchgoer whose non-food-related appetites prove too much for her pious fiancé.  This bawdy, generous-spirited comedy is not reticent about showing sex and nudity among non-standard body types.  In Spanish with English subtitles.
